That signpost is pointing to some pretty interesting places, though -- I have some new material up my sleeve, but it may be next week before I actually get a chance to post it all ...
I got as far as - freezing works near Bluff in the 70s - 1972 I think - my crazy idea ws to work there and save money and work as kind of revolutionary cadre from the inside. But the "season" hadn't begun. Then I stayed in Invercargill - coldest place I have ever been I think.
But to have lived and been young not to have done anything crazy -like going to Invercargill or Bluff!!
It is Bluff, Richard ... just a little way out of town. Martin Edmond and I walked down there to the point and I snapped a picture of him looking out towards Sydney, while he took this one of me with my Ahmed Zaoui t-shirt on ... (you'll notice that his is a lot better framed than mine when all these photos are revealed on the Bluff 06 feature on the nzepc ...)
I like Martin Edmond's writings -his book about Clairmont and other stuff. I haven't read all I would like to - I seem to keep getting diverted in my reading - I don't know when or if the next Brief will appear but when I get time I also want to have a good look at your brother's book - and yours. both look very intriguing.
I write this knowing Leicester has died - I grieved a few days ago, but I have been busy the last few days, learnt only today that Leicester is actually dead, so I haven't been able to take it in that Leicester is dead - it seems a stupid notion.
Interesting Bluff facts - it's NZ's oldest continually inhabited town, and our cloest port to Australia. Or so I read - in Bluff.
ReplyDeleteStill stuck in Bluff eh?
